Barbara Harrison and John Morgan are 40-plus-year residents of Northern Palm Beach County. John is a mechanical engineer and HVAC contractor who owned a 5-star air conditioning company. Barbara is a retired registered nurse who also owned a pool service company. Together We decided to start a Home Watch business after having a personal experience with our condo rental in Jupiter. Our condo is on the 1st floor with a two-floor condo above us. Our renter notified Barbara that there was water leaking from the bathroom ceiling. She immediately went to the condo and called the HOA maintenance department, who assessed the ceiling and told me our air ducts were leaking and I would need to remove the ceiling and replace the ductwork and the ceiling. I thought that sounded drastic, so I called John. He requested that the maintenance person check the condo above us and check the master bedroom on the 3rd floor in the closet, he knew the condos well from years of owning and operating a local air conditioning company. Sure, enough their air handler had been leaking, and the water damage was extensive and included drywall and flooring damage to their 2nd and 3rd floor. They had been gone for months and had a friend drop by periodically to check on their home, the air handler had been leaking for over 2 weeks, and our damage was minimal as it was caught right away. I was also ‘ thankful John was familiar with the building, had I followed the maintenance person’s recommendation it would have been disastrous, and the condo above us would have still been leaking.

Owning a residence in South Florida, although it’s paradise, our tropical climate can present issues such as mold, leaks, bug infestations among other problems which can result in thousands of dollars in damage.
